Ruan Engelbrecht

Ruan was born in Bellville, CT in 1983. Before joining any bands, Engelbrecht participated in a recording session for a metal band. Ruan began as a thrash metal drummer in 1999 then evolved into a rock/metal drummer in the early 2000's. Ruan joined other bands one of them being Spire as lyricist and one of the songwriters and drummer.

Ruan released at least 9 demo CD's and hundreds of demo tracks. Engelbrecht left Spire in 2009 due to personal disagreements and the inability to work as a team. He now focuses on Studio work and filling in for members. Ruan is also working on a new Indie Rock project with ex- guitarist of the Spoking Popes and Non Slip Handle.
